Wedding at Cana first miracle and Wedding supper of the Lamb as last miracle

Jesus' first miracle was the Wedding at Cana. Here it is:

"On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; and both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does that have to do with us? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification, containing twenty or thirty gallons each. Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.” So they took it to him. When the headwaiter tasted the water which had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom, 1and said to him, “Every man serves the good wine first, and when the people have drunk freely, then he serves the poorer wine; but you have kept the good wine until now.” This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him." (John 2:1-11)

It was the first public miracle, yet only a few people knew what had happened. Mary, the disciples, and the servants saw. Mary already knew He is the Messiah. The disciples already suspected He is the Messiah. The servants only knew that something miraculous had happened. So what was the point of the miracle?

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

At least once a year, many Christians become aware of the great diversity of ways of adoring God. Hearts are touched, and people realize that their neighbours' ways are not so strange.

VENERABLE ANNE CATHERINE EMMERICH'S VISION OF THE BAPTISM OF JESUS

From the book: THE LOWLY LIFE AND BITTER PASSION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST AND HIS BLESSED MOTHER
JESUS BAPTIZED BY JOHN
Jesus, walking more quickly than Lazarus, reached John's place of baptism two hours before him. It was morning twilight when, on the road near the place, He caught up with a crowd of people who also were going to the baptism, and He walked on with them. They did not know Him, but they could not keep their eyes off Him, for there was something about Him very remarkable. When they reached the end of their journey, it was morning. A crowd more numerous than usual was assembled to whom John was with great animation preaching of the nearness of the Messiah and of penance, proclaiming at the same time that the moment was approaching for him to retire from his office of teacher. Jesus was standing in the throng of listeners. John felt His presence. He saw Him also, and that fired him with zeal and filled his heart with joy. But he did not on that account interrupt his discourse, and when he had finished he began to baptize.

He had already baptized very many and it was drawing on to ten o'clock, when Jesus in His turn came down among the aspirants to the pool of baptism. John bowed low before Him, saying: " I ought to be baptized by Thee, and comest Thou to me? " Jesus answered: " Suffer it to be so now, for so it becometh us to fulfil all justice that thou baptize Me and I by thee be baptized." He said also: " Thou shalt receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost and of blood."  Then John begged Him to follow him to the island. Jesus replied that He would do so, provided that some of the water with which all were baptized should be poured into the basin, that all present should be baptized at the same place with Himself, and that the tree by which He was to support Himself should be transplanted to the ordinary place of baptism, that all might share the same conveniences.

ALL THOSE WHO BELIEVED FOUND THE LORD

Today we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany, which means the feast of Manifestation of the Lord. The lord manifests himself to the gentiles. Today also said to be the feast of the Three Kings who traveled from the east following the mysterious star to worship the King of Kings.

Today’s feast calls us to examine our self to how do we recognize the presence of God in others or in events or in a situation which is not so according the way we thought to be. Why the Jewish people who believed very much all that is  written  in  the holy Scripture , could not believe that the  babe born in Bethlehem in a stable is  their long awaited Savior?, it was very clearly mentioned in the holy book that “you Bethlehem …from  you shall spring   forth the Savior”.

What made the three Kings to trust in that mysterious star and to leave their country and take a risk of a long  journey not knowing the distance or the destination as to where the star would lead?

Are we not the same like the Jews who fail to believe in the presence of God in all the persons, events, situations that are not according to the way we want to be? Let us pray that this year of faith may enlighten us and bring us from darkness of our own to the wonderful light of the Lord.

HAPPY FEAST
